Nerd Weekend In Retrospect

I spent last weekend in the beautiful city of San Diego for 2008's Comic-Con Convention.  I've pretty much always wanted to go to Comic-Con, and being my first time ever, I was incredibly excited.

My friends Tim and MaryJo came out from Philly for the convention, too, and we moved into the Cole's house for the weekend (they are so awesome and I love them) while we were in town, since we couldn't find a hotel.

Friday we got in kind of late, and we drove to the Convention around 7pm so I could catch the live taping of the Totally Rad Show.  It was really awesome to watch them in person and I had a great time.  The only problem was the embarrassment I felt being in the same room as a bunch of weird 15 year olds who were just as big of fans as me.  It still rocked though, so I don't care.  Afterwards, we went back to the Cole's and watched YouTube videos until it was time for bed.

The next morning, Wyatt woke me up to play with Tech-Decks at 7:30am.  It was cool though, because we had wanted to get an early start that day.  Not only was today another day of Comic-Con, but it was also Awesome-Con, which is Tim and Eric's party they throw during Comic-Con in a park across the street.

We ended up not getting into the city until about 15 minutes before Awesome-Con started, so we headed right over to there.  We arrived just as it was starting, and I said hi to all my co-workers and hung out for a bit.  There was a lot of Karaoke and music and people in costumes.  It was really cool and I had a blast hanging out.

We stayed at Awesome-Con for about an hour before we went back to the actual Comic-Con.  We walked around most of the day and the Cole's also came down to meet up and hang for a bit at the convention.   The place was so packed and there was so much to see and do.  I can't even remember everything.  The rest of the day went by in such a blur.  We definitely needed to come back again tomorrow to get down to business.

We left the convention around 6pm, and went to a Mexican Restaurant by the Cole's place for dinner.  Hung out a bit then went to bed early.

Sunday, our last day, I was up early again, and we actually made it out of the house pretty early.  We got to the Con and went right to business.  I found the Top Shelf booth and got to meet the author of a book I had been meaning to pick up for a while called The Surrogates.  It's really awesome and worth checking out.  He signed my copy and was a really nice guy.

We walked around and explored a lot of booths, and got to play some video games too.  I actually got to play The Ghostbusters video game for like 15 minutes and it was so freaking cool.

Once we left the convention, I took Tim and MaryJo to In-N-Out Burger (per their request) and then after we were finished, I dropped them at San Diego airport before making my 3 hour journey (I hate you, Traffic!) back to Hollywood for the Awesome Show Season Premiere Party.
It was an incredible weekend and I am so tired today.  I can't wait to get a legitimate nights sleep tonight.
